Berlin Buzzwords

Berlin Buzzwords is the conference about open-source solutions for data processing, streaming and search. 

Here are three key takeaways:

• Great GPU capabilities
  The latest developments in GPU performance comfortably enable the scale of vector-based search and query applications. Today's available GPUs are 12x faster and better in multi-thread indexing and query performance. 

• It's a long way for ML  to scale
  ML models still need a lot of attention to be used at scale - and many roadblocks are in the details (feature labeling, semanticity, poor output formats and many more).

• The "in-between world" of search
  With hybrid search, we're between the old world (hierarchical search) and the new world (vector search) until ML models are mature enough.
